How'd it start?

Three days in and many have asked me already where I got this idea from. Well, it was commissioned. My friend Scott runs an amazing ad agency (Van's General Store) in NYC and, 5 years ago, wanted to do a post a day on twitter (140 characters max. at that time) as a sort of promotional thing.  I came up with a few 30 day concepts to present to him and he chose this one you're reading above. I actually liked "30 alternate endings to the Wizard of Oz" better, but, honest to god, I've learned over the years of working with Scott that his instincts and taste are almost always better than mine. I wrote about 10 drafts of this story but never quite nailed the tone that Scott wanted, despite liking it myself. Years later, I asked him I could have the story for my own (when you freelance for an ad agency, it's usually considered "work for hire" and all the stuff you write, all the ideas you present belong to the client.) and he said "sure." Cause he's a generous guy like that.
So here it is.

THANKS, SCOTT!

And thanks to my editors throughout this process, Tiffany Martin and CeCe Kochanowski,
who have come up with a shit-ton of helpful ideas and typo fixes!
